I didn't know Lawrence that well but his sister Elly was my best friend. I remember the day she told me about the crash - it was a Sunday morning and the phone woke me up. I just didn't know what to say - what can you say? I travelled down to the funeral with Helen Doodson and it was the most moving experience I've ever had.
