Lawrence's 40th

2009 April 06

Lawrence’s ashes were scattered in the sea just off Skomer Island in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Last Monday, 6th April 2009, was Lawrence’s 40th Birthday and so my Mum and I decided to revisit Skomer Island and remember him on his special day. The weather was awful, grey and raining and I felt sick with sadness and pain that he wasn’t with us to celebrate his birthday. Because of the bad weather the boat wasn’t running so we stood on the rickety jetty and threw the daffodils in from there. We stood and watched the daffodils float away and this made us feel better some how. We then went back to the cottage and drank champagne and ate birthday cake with Graham, Greg, Eaffie, Josh and Helen and had a toast to Lawrence. Then we went to the pub next door to Mum and Greg’s cottage, the Lobster pot in Marloes, and had lunch and played pool. It just felt right to be there with the people who love me and to play pool and go on the slot machines, as that is what we used to do on our holidays with Lawrence.
